And the big question is, can Ballarat ‘s Darren Weir secure a trainers’ bonus on the second day of the three-day carnival?

Warrnambool Racing Club offers a luxury car to a trainer two can win four races at the carnival, on the condition that one victory comes in at least one of four nominated feature races.

He landed a double on Tuesday and has a powerful hand in the Wangoom Handicap and Galleywood Hurdle on Wednesday, and Warrnambool Cup on Thursday.

Robert Smerdon is the only trainer to win the bonus, having achieved the feat in 2010.
