Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing man who was believed to be camping near Avoca.
However, on arrival Murray McMillan's camp site, police found the hut he was meant to be staying in had been burnt down.
The Lara man was last seen at his home address on April 14 and told a family member he would be returning on April 17.
He was reported missing on April 18.
Mr McMillan's vehicle, a green Mitsubishi Magna sedan, was located by a member of the public in the Pyrenees State Forest, at Warrenmang around 4pm on Monday.
Police units, including search and rescue, dog squad, air wing and local officers, have been searching the area, but are yet to find the missing man.
Police and family have serious concerns for Mr McMillan's welfare as he currently suffers from a medical condition.
Photos of Mr McMillian along with an image of a vehicle similar to his have been released to the public in the hope of receiving assistance from the public.
Police said he is known to frequently visit the area around the You Yangs and urged the public to keep an eye out for him.
Anyone who sees Mr McMillian or has any information about his whereabouts is urged to call triple zero or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately.
