Parishioners including Doug McMillan and Jean Walker, both of whom have been attending Barkly Street Uniting Church or more than 80 years, are looking forward to the 160th celebrations.

Doug McMillan, who has been attending the church every Sunday for more than 80 years, said it would be a significant milestone.

"And it's not just me who had been coming for that long," he said.

"There are a few of us... if you added up all the years between us it would be pretty impressive."

Another parishioner, Jean Glenton, has also been at the church since she was a child and remembers attending up to four times a day on Sundays.

"It has been a great church to be a part of and it's nice that it's still here after all these years," she said.

The church, which is currently without a minister, will hold a special service on June 15 to celebrate the occasion.

They are encouraging anyone with any connection to the church to go along.
