The Aquinas Young Vinnies chaperoned the 25 children from a dozen schools in the region at a three-day camp at Adekate Lodge, near Dean.
The ACU Aquinas crew consisted mainly of teaching and nursing students from the Ballarat campus who have also been trained by St Vincent De Paul.
Young Vinnies president Hannah Williams said each undergraduate had committed to giving 50 hours of their time towards the camp.
“We’re talking about kids who might not have had the same opportunities to get away and have fun,” Ms Williams said.
“It’s about having a laid-back weekend, with games, bushwalking, and team-building exercises.”
The school children were chosen by their respective school principals on a needs basis.
They left Ballarat for Adekate Lodge on Friday evening, returning Sunday afternoon.
