Severino is settling into the new Ballarat Cricket Association position of operations officer – a combination of the former secretary position, vacated by the long-serving Don Jacobsson last summer, and his own marketing and sales background.
It is a chance for Severino to mould the new role to suit his style in the next 12-month cricket cycle.
“I have an absolute passion for cricket. I’ve been involved in the game since I was a little bloke and I saw this position as a chance to help move the association forward,” he said.
“It’s a chance to help create stronger relationships with key stakeholders.
“It’s a really exciting time.
“The BCA is forming a strategic plan.
“The association has never really had a strategic plan and every club is involved in helping to set it up.”
About three months ago, Severino – a Mt Clear 250-gamer – was captaining North Ballarat seconds and serving as Roosters’ vice-president.
He has stepped down from both roles but said the experience would help in quickly adapting to his BCA job.
