The theft in Maffra led to a two-hour curdling police chase on the Princes and Monash freeways, which ended in the arrest of two men.
Whether the milk turned to butter during the dairy drama has not been revealed.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said stop sticks - tyre deflation devices thrown across the road— were deployed at Nar Nar Goon but the alleged truck thieves kept travelling with a number of blown tyres.
Another stop stick was used at the intersection of Police Road on the Monash Freeway where the truck came to a stop on the off ramp.
No one was injured during the pursuit. Both men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
