Ashley Meade, 20, and co-accused Michael Boyd, 21, both of Ballarat, are charged with carrying out a violent home invasion in Gillies Street, Wendouree, about 12.55am on April 6 this year when they allegedly stormed into a home and robbed its occupants at knife point.
Meade was arrested on Thursday while at court for a committal mention hearing, with police charging him with breaching a bail condition of not contacting the co-accused, Ballarat Magistrates Court heard.
Ballarat Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Cummins said the phone calls, which Boyd recorded and gave to police, were thought to come from Meade between May 5 and 10. “I’ll burn your f****** house down with your whole family in it,” Detective Senior Constable Cummins read out. “I’m going to petrol bomb your parents’ house if you don’t retract your statement.”
Meade was bailed and will face court on July 17 for a further committal mention hearing.
