WEATHER

We are entering Ballarat's dark heart of winter as the sub-zero nights approach.

A partly cloudy day with patchy fog early this morning and a top of 14.

Winds northerly and light increasing to 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the late afternoon.

POLICE

Local detectives investigated a stabbing in Sebastopol on Monday and have charged a 24-year-old male. For details click here.

Echo Taskforce police combined forces with local officers to raid a bikie clubhouse in the CBD. 

The raid followed a robbery on Saturday night where up to 15 bikies stormed Camp Street nightclub Haida. For details click here.

FIRE

Three fire crews attended a house fire in Wendouree on Tuesday morning.

Crews attended an unoccupied Marigold  Street home at 2.40am where a blaze had engulfed the kitchen and bedroom.

The fire had been spotted by neighbours and was brought under control within 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by police.

An alarm at Stockland Wendouree had crews scrambling after a floor polishing machine malfunctioned just before 6am. 

AMBULANCE

Ballarat paramedics attended no trauma cases over night.

V/LINE

There have been reports of single carriage trains being accompanied by a coach to support commuters.

Due to V/Line track works, coaches will replace some services between Ararat and Melbourne from Saturday 7 June until Wednesday 11 June. Ballarat services will run as normal.
