WEATHER

If this morning's sunrise is anything to go by, our beautiful city is in for a ripper. The lack of over night cloud cover has allowed most of the ground heat to escape so we will have a top of 13 degrees today and mostly fine. Winds northerly 20 to 25 km/h.

POLICE

Police are hunting for a man who robbed an inner-city petrol station at knife-point on Tuesday night.

The man entered the Caltex Safeway service station at the corner of Humffray and Eastwood streets just after 6pm and demanded cash from the attendant. Details.

FIRE

Fire crews were called to the Haymes paint factory at the Wendouree Industrial Park at 7.30am Wednesday after an automatic fire alarm was triggered.

It was a false alarm.

Crews attended a single person motorcycle accident on the corner of Fussell and Victoria streets just before 6pm on Tuesday night.

Crews also attended a car gas leak at Rowlands Street, Sebastopol, at 12.30am on Wednesday.

AMBULANCE

Paramedics transported a 20-year-old man to the Ballarat Base Hospital after he was involved in a motorcycle crash.

He was transported in a stable condition at 5.45pm from the corner of Fussel and Victoria streets, where his motorcycle had crashed into a pole.

V/LINE

No reported delays this morning.

Due to V/Line track works, coaches will replace some services between Ararat and Melbourne from Saturday 21 June until Monday 23 June.

Ballarat services will run as normal.
