WEATHER

A rather mild morning has encouraged a positive start to Ballarat's day. A bit of cloud cover throughout the day, holding in any ground heat the city can generate. A little rain from the late morning. A top of 11 degrees and winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h.

POLICE

A Ballarat sex-shop worker says she is disappointed the man who held her at gun point did not have to go to jail. Details.

An extensive police operation has netted more than $170,000 in allegedly stolen goods after a two week investigation. Two men are due to face court on Thursday. Details.

FIRE

Fire crews from Ballarat City and Wendouree were called to a false alarm at the McCains factory just after 4.30am on Thursday.

AMBULANCE

Paramedics did not attend any trauma incidents over night.

Ballarat trains are running on time this morning, with no complaints surfacing on Twitter.

Due to Regional Rail Link works, coaches will replace trains between Melbourne and Ballarat from Saturday 28 June until Tuesday 15 July.

Trains will continue to operate between Ballarat and Ararat / Maryborough.
