Ballarat woke to an interesting splash of colour on Sunday as local artisans took part in International Yarn Bombing day.
The unusual form of public art involves decorating street furniture or whatever else comes to hand with colourful knitting.
Undeterred by a chilly night, enthusiasts livened up the row of heads with an array of colourful knitted pieces.
Others poles and seats in Ballarat were all yarn bombed.
The Crafty Squirrel owner and artist Morgan Wills recently bombed a pole out the front of her shop and said it was all about adding a bit of fun and colour to the streets.
"It usually happens overnight, under the cover of darkness," Ms Wills said with a laugh.
"The idea being that you wake up in the morning to discover a bit of colour and fun."
Ms Morgan said yarn bombers often wanted to remain anonymous.
"There's a bit of mystery about it," she said.
"That adds to the fun."
Ms Wills said the yarn bomb on the pole near her shop was made out of several woollen blankets.
