IT HAS been more than two decades since The Band Who Knew Too Much formed, but the six-piece group still has a lot more to give.
Formed in 1990 by Dave Evans and Andy Reid, the outfit has seen a few line-up changes in its time, but has managed to stay true to its pub-jazz style.
"Our music is designed to get people dancing and tell stories as well," Evans said.
"We began playing early, upbeat jazz and were looking for high edgy stuff to get people to dance and that's been our mantra all the way through.
"It's about people having fun and getting them up."
Starting out as buskers in the early 1990s, it wasn't long before Evans and Reid had offers from venues wanting them to bring their live show to the masses, even though they were yet to find themselves a band name.
"We took it from the Hitchcock film The Man Who Knew Too Much and thought that it had a good resonance and fit for us," Evans said.
"People know the title and it resonated with us in terms of the sound of the words.
"It's a funny sort of name. If we thought about it more we might've chosen a shorter name but it's served us well."
The Band Who Knew Too Much embraces the craziness and flaws of everyday life and turns them into material for an intoxicating party.
With exciting Australian songs propelled by energetic jazz-like woodchop rhythm and strong local lyrics, the act is a bona-fide, foolproof, floor-packing band with a highly energetic act that can only be described as "fun".
"It's fun. It's very enjoyable and the musicians are all really good players," Evans said.
