On Friday night, meteorologist and popular weather presenter Jane Bunn said goodbye to television viewers.
And the weather itself appeared to go out in sympathy as Ms Bunn forecast a cold spell to chill the region after the weekend.
“It all arrives on Monday,” Ms Bunn said in her trademark, breezy manner. “We can also expect icy hail, rolls of thunder and snow on the ranges.”
But, as only Jane Bunn can, it all sounded somehow inviting, despite the dire symbols and numbers on the screen.
A qualified meteorologist who worked as a weather forecaster with the Bureau of Meteorology writing weather reports, Ms Bunn became the on-air morning presenter on the Weather Channel in 2008.
Since joining Win TV in 2009, she has been the sunny face of six local weather bulletins each day combining cool knowledge with warm flair.
There was still an air of mystery about Ms Bunn’s next career step, even as she wound up her final weather bulletin with her usual flourish.
“Thank you for watching me for so many years,” she said. “It was wonderful.”
