She has qualified 10 runners for semi-finals at Melton harness races on Friday night.
Stewart has enjoyed a great run in the VSS over several seasons and has a big opportunity to add to it.
Stewart had even more semi-finalists last season – 16.
She qualified 10 for the group 1 finals and won two finals with two-year-old colt Major Secret and three-year-old colt Guaranteed.
Guaranteed is again spearheading her assault as he strives to complete a rare hat-trick of Vicbred Super Series titles after triumphing as a 2yo and 3yo.
He was third in his heat, which was his first race start since winning the Chariots of Fire at the start of March. Guaranteed has drawn the pole just as he did in his heat when smothered away on the pegs.
“I can see us being buried away back on the pegs again,” Stewart told Harness Racing Victoria.
“But as long as we get through to the final, that’s the main thing.”
Outside Guaranteed, Stewart’s biggest hope is unbeaten 2yo filly Lovelist, which is unbeaten in four visits to the races.
Stewart’s semi-final line-up:
4yo mares: Goodtime Marjie, Our Femme Fatale
4yo entires/geldings: Guaranteed, Hes Kinky
3yo fillies: Berisari, Tuscan Breeze, Bettors Package
3yo colts and geldings: Presidentialsecret
2yo fillies: Licinia, Lovelist
THIS is not the full extent of Ballarat’s presence in the VSS semi-finals. Far from it.
Trainers Michael Stanley and David Murphy also have multiple runners.
Stanley has 2yo gelding Thebackpagescribe, 2yo colt Morior Invictus and 3yo colt Young Modern, which was a Victoria Derby finalist earlier in the year and is a group 3 winner.
Thebackpagescribe, which has been placed twice in three starts, is a half-brother to group 1 winner and stablemate Blucolla Tigerpie.
Murphy’s Dunnstown team is represented by 4yo mare Here And Now, and 4yo entire Desdon Murruffy.
