Rebecca and Louise will compete in the event with father Andrew, while mother Jenny forms part of the trio’s unofficial “support crew”.

Andrew will race in the 50-54-year-old marathon – which doubles as the Australian titles – with Rebecca (21-24 year 21km half marathon) and Louise (17-20 year 10km) running in lead-up events.

“We have a unit in Burleigh Heads so we stay there and taper a little bit before the race and after the race we are there for another week as well. It’s a bit of a holiday,” Louise said.

“We have been up there the last few years and watched and this year we thought we may as well go do it as a family.”

Andrew, Rebecca and Louise all race for Ballarat YCW and represent the city at Athletics Victoria events such as the XCR’14 Series.
