WEATHER

Yet another cold day for Ballarat with a top of 11 degrees predicted for the city.

For those of you already looking ahead  to weekend we can expect similar temperatures, however,  the chance of rain will be greater.

SPORT

Aussie Nick Kyrgios, aged 19, and ranked 144th, has reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals by stunning world No.1 Rafael Nadal in four sets on centre court in one of the great grand slam upsets.

Below is a tweet from Nick shortly after his win only hours ago.

POLICE

The cold weather seems to be keeping people indoors and out of trouble with Ballarat Police having nothing to report.

There are reports this morning that a car has crashed after hitting a kangaroo near Beaufort. Police from Ballarat are attending the scene.

Have you already seen our map covering how many licensed firearms are owned in every postcode throughout the state?

FIRE

Fire crews had a relatively busy night with a  burst steam pipe at the Ballarat Base Hospital setting off multiple alarms.

Crews also attended a primary school in Sebastopol where a shade sail had been set alight.

AMBULANCE

Local paramedics reported a quiet night.

TRAINS

All trains on the Ballarat line are currently being replaced by coaches while works on the Regional Rail Link ramp up.

ON THE AGENDA

Paramedics  will offer free CPR lessons in Central Square today as part of their call for better pay conditions, more ambulances and an overhaul of the dispatch system to improve response times to jobs.
