The CFA was called to the power plant about 3.45pm after receiving reports of a fire involving scaffolding and coal.
The CFA said the fire was in the roof of a boiler house and had been 80 per cent contained. “There was a small structure collapse in some scaffolding due to the fire,” a spokesman said.
Six crews are still on site and engineers are assessing the damage.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The CFA said the fire posed no risk to the community.
Yallourn Power Station supplies about 22 per cent of Victoria’s electricity.
