Jordon said he'd spoken to Slade Power's trainer, Irishman Eddie Lynam, minutes after the horse's resounding victory who had confirmed the sprinter would be in Australia later this year.

"With such a decorated horse like Slade Power coming for our spring carnival and clashing with Lankan Rupee you couldn't ask for a more enthralling duel.

"Their intention is to run in the VRC Sprint but there's always those associated weight-for-age races like the Manikato at Moonee Valley for the horse to race in.

"It makes for a truly international day of racing if we can get the best stayers on the main stage to Melbourne to complement the sprinting ranks, come the spring carnival," Jordon said.

Lynam told the media at Newmarket after Slade Power's win: "I think today he's proved he's the best sprinter in Europe and the obvious step now is to try and make him the best sprinter in the world.

"What better place to go than Australia and try to beat them on their own patch, which won't be easy, but we'll give it a go," he said.

The five-year-old has largely been overshadowed by his group 1-winning stablemate Sole Power, who had to be withdrawn from the July Cup because of the prevailing track conditions.

Jordon said the connections of Slade Power had indicated the stallion would start in the Haydock Sprint Cup on September 6, and that run will be his last European engagement.

"They've indicated that after Haydock the horse will be specifically sent to Australia and after his commitments there he'll be retired to stud," Jordon said.

It promises to be a promoter's dream in the spring carnival with the highly gifted Lankan Rupee taking all before him during the autumn and emerging as one of the finest sprinters racing in the world.

Slade Power could be in strong demand with breeders in Australia and England if he's successful in races such as the group 1 VRC Sprint, which was formerly the Patinack Farm Classic.
