The 30-year-old man was charged at the scene, according to Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Brian Malloch.
A dozen fire units attended the machinery fire at DJP Scoria quarry at Parwan just after 7am on Tuesday and took almost 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
Fire units responded after a member of the public alerted emergency services at the quarry,10 kilometres south of Bacchus Marsh.
At the time, Ballarat D15 CFA Fire Investigator Gavin Hope said the quarry's production had been affected since the machines were damaged.
