The seven-day cycling event will include 40 riders travelling 500km around Victoria and Tasmania.
Riders will arrive in Ballarat, after travelling 100km from Colac, on Wednesday, August 27.
Event promotions officer Amy O’Brien said Ballarat was one of the locations chosen for the event because the region’s people often needed to use the Ronald McDonald houses.
All 40 bike riders are volunteers who have raised money and taken time out of their own lives to join the ride.
Ballarat will host a fund-raising event for when the riders arrive at the North Ballarat Sports Club at 6.30pm, with tickets at $85.
The fund-raising goal for this RMHC Ride for Sick Kids is $500,000, with money coming from riders, sponsors, donations and town events.
All donations will be go towards the Ronald McDonald Houses.
The Ronald McDonald Houses provide a “home away from home” for families around Victoria needing to travel to Melbourne with a seriously ill child.
