Ballarat breakfast report: July 25

WEATHER

The mercury dipped to just six degrees overnight.

We will see a top of 10 degrees and partly cloudy with a few showers.

Winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h becoming light in the evening.

POLICE

Local police had nothing to report from overnight.

FIRE

Fire crews attended a house fire in Wendouree overnight. 

Crews from Ballarat City and Wendouree brought a kitchen fire under control within minutes just afte 6.30pm. 

Residents of the Hastings Street home were evacuated after the fire started in the oven. 

The house was entirely smoke locked.

AMBULANCE

Local paramedics attended no trauma cases overnight. 

Four helicopters were used in the rescue of tourists from a fatal bus crash on the Great Ocean Road.

The tour bus which was carrying seven passengers, left the road about 2pm and travelled 20 metres down a ravine and into a creek bed. Details.
