In a grab for cash, two nearby ideal vacant land lots were disposed of. The briquette siding in Armstrong Street went. The firewood siding opposite Aldi went. This was a natural, ready-made site for a split-level car park with duel entry points. Both could have parked many vehicles. VicTrack already owned the land, but was shortsighted with a state government needing money more than we need to park.
Previously state-owned lakeside would have made a perfect new hospital site for future expansion and parking. Ultimately, an expensive purchase way out of town will be faced one day.
The John Valves site was ignored for future sport parking and venue extensions. This for a fraction of the new swimming pool cost, which depreciates whilst land increases in value.
