A group of Ballarat women will present a series of advice-driven presentations at the inaugural Ballarat Bloggers Knowledge Hub next month.
Part of a group of professional and hobby bloggers, Ballarat Bloggers and co-organiser of Ballarat Bloggers Knowledge Hub, Louise Jones said the idea behind the conference was to help mothers and small business build a career through blogging and social media.
“We want to show other local businesses, stay-at-home mums and hobbyists how to create an income from their writing,” Ms Jones said.
“Everyone has something to share, no matter how mundane – Australian woman have made thousands just blogging about housework.”
Ms Jones, who started her first blog three years ago as a way to close the gap for struggling children at school, said a local conference like Ballarat Bloggers Knowledge Hub gave bloggers the chance to save their money by not having to travel to meet up.
“Blogging is a way for people to share their messages with people in similar situations and help build a community,” she said. “We will talk about different aspects of blogging, looking at ideas for beginners as well as things for experienced bloggers.
“They can take home practices for their blogs, whether they are getting started or wanting to improve their blogs.”
Ms Jones will be joined by bloggers Dorothy Krajewski, Rachel Kinscher and Brigid O’Carroll Walsh for the inaugural event on August 9 at Lake View Hotel.
