THE State Emergency Service has issued a severe weather warning for the region in the wake of heavy snow falls around Ballarat.

The warning is for damaging winds in the Mallee, Wimmera, North Central, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland regions.
A statement from the SES said a second cold front has now entered south-western Victoria and will move rapidly, in a north-east direction, across the remainder of the state during the afternoon.
A high pressure system is expected to approach the state early Saturday, with conditions improving.
