Ballarat is waking from a deep freeze this morning, with the mercury plummeting to minus 4.1 at 4.30am.
At 7.30am the temperature was minus 3.6 degrees.

POLICE
Police are currently diverting traffic on the Ballan-Daylesford Road after a truck jack-knifed in icy conditions, blocking both lanes.
Police expect the road to be blocked until after lunchtime.
Police are also rendering assistance to a two vehicle collision on the corner of Gillies and Sturt streets.
THE family of missing Ballarat teenager Donny Govan still holds out hope he is alive two years after his disappearance.

FIRE
Early workers at The Courier office received a nice shock when a fire crew stormed the building looking for the source of a peculiar smell that had triggered a fire alarm at 7am.
Crews are also currently attending a job on the Ballan-Daylesford, Leonards Hill, where a truck has jack-knifed and blocked traffic from all directions.
A two vehicle crash on at the intersection of Gillies and Sturt streets is currently being attended by fire crews.
AMBULANCE
Ambulance units have been called to the scene of a truck that has jack-knifed on the Ballan-Daylesford Road in Leonards Hill.
At the time of writing no units had been called to the two vehicle smash at the intersection of Gillies and Sturt Street.
