The Ballarat-based Lions are locked on equal points with the fourth-placed metropolitan Lions.
Redan can take confidence and momentum from a 29-point hiding of third-ranked Pascoe Vale at the weekend.
Pascoe Vale was scoreless for the first half and while the Lions did not convert many goals, they had plenty of scoring shots.
Lion Tahni Nestor booted two goals while Nicole Hildebrand and Lori Stepnell were back in match-winning form.
The Lions have two rounds left to play in the home-and-away season. Beating Sunbury this week will not be enough - they face the second-ranked Seaford in the final round.
Division three/four ladder leader Wyndhamvale overpowered Golden Point by 54 points on Sunday.
Wyndhamvale piled on four majors against a goal-less Point in the opening quarter before the Dragons managed to chip back.
Point's Abby Cummins, Zhoe Clarke and Maighan Fogas each booted a goal and Jordyn Chapman was named the Dragon's best.
The Dragons are preparing to play in division four finals and will be put to an important test this week against similarly ranked Montmorency.
