It was a special leg of the journey for the riders as they paid tribute to Black Dog WA state ride coordinator and prominent Busselton resident Les James in his home town.

Mr James passed away on Monday while taking part in the ride.

Starting at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School the riders parked their bikes for the excited students to admire.

Black Dog Ride founder Steve Andrews kicked off a short presentation and question session with the students.

“You don’t get a bunch of nasty looking bikies in here everyday,” he said.

The convoy then streamed through the main streets of Busselton and onto Fennessy’s for lunch.

Black Dog rider Brian Ross said the ride had been an uplifting experience and they had all become very close.

“We have the ability to bring discussion into the town and can help people to actually do something,” he said.

Mr Ross said the shock of Mr James’s death had shook them all but was glad the ride could go on in Les’s memory.
