Buninyong and Learmonth units conducted an operation at Buninyong to target drink driving.
About 500 drivers were breath tested, while unlicensed drivers and unregistered vehicles were also targeted.
Buninyong Police Sergeant Peter Anderson said it was part of a traffic enforcement operation.
“Afternoons on Fridays is when people are likely to drink drive. It’s about high-visibility enforcement,” Sergeant Anderson said.
“We are coming out of winter and hibernation and into football finals time, so it’s a timely reminder to not drink and drive.
“It’s about letting people know that we can be out at any time.”
The operation was held over several locations across Buninyong.
“If you’re going to drink, leave the car at home or organise a designated driver,” Sergeant Anderson said.
