Compared to recent times the under-achieving Tigers have virtually flown under the radar this week. Tonight is do or die for them. If they don't win against the in-form Premiers there is no real chance of them making the eight. The good news for gold, white and black fans is gun half Luke Brooks has recovered from his shoulder injury and will start tonight. They will also have a small, wet and vocal Leichhardt crowd to cheer them on. The Roosters, meanwhile, have hit their straps lately and with Origin star Dan Tupou returning, will be hard to beat. The temperature on ground is 14 degrees and rain has been falling. Should be a cracker of a match.
Lots of energy and sharp hands in the warmups tonight. #nrlwstsyd https://t.co/RT3243w2MC — Wests Tigers (@Wests_Tigers) August 16, 2014
2nd minute:
The rain is bucketing down as the Roosters grind out their first set of six, which ends with a raking Pearce kick to Moses.
Tigers 0 Roosters 0
3rd minute
A well-weighted Pearce grubber saw a flying Jennings ground the ball untouched. Lovely kick from the Roosters' No.7. That was Jennings' 100th try in the NRL. Maloney converts from in front.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
5th minute:
Pearce and Maloney are combining well as the Tigers struggle to get possession.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
9th minute:
A pinpoint crossfield kick from Farah is plucked out of the air by Tuivasa-Sheck as he's rolled into the in-goal. Repeat set for the Tiges.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
10th minute:
Sironen messes up a flat ball from Brooks and the Tigers' attack breaks down 5m out.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
12th minute:
Boyd Cordner cleaned up Moses with a late hit after the Tiges' No.1 had kicked from 40m out. Cordner on report for going too high.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
14th min:
Cordner, perhaps a little rattled by the ref's call on his Moses tackle, coughs up the pill 30m out from his own line. Tigers attack.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
16th min:
Wests are applying pressure but Kurtis Rowe's attempted pass to Lawrence ends up in Row 20. Quite possibly the worst pass of the year.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
18th min:
Wests are really putting in this match after last week's meek surrender.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
20th min:
Gee, the scrums are taking so long to pack - it's almost as bad as rugby union.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
21st min:
Tuivasa-Sheck made a neat break up the guts and found Pearce on the rampage. Ominous signs for the Tiges.
Tigers 0 Roosters 6
22nd min:
Tigers penalised right in front for lingering in the tackle - and the Tricolours have opted to shoot for goal. A sensible decision in the wet. Maloney does the honours.
Tigers 0 Roosters 8
24th min:
Tuivasa-Sheck is all class in the Roosters' backline. His footwork is sublime.
Tigers 0 Roosters 8
26th min:
Taupau penalised for disturbing the play the ball, but it looks like he was concussed. Very harsh decision. Easts attack 30m out.
