The woman aged in her 70s was driving her Nissan towards Ballarat - but in the Melbourne bound lane - at 12.45am when her vehicle and a truck collided near the Brewery Tap Hotel at Woodman's Hill.
Paramedics attended the scene and took the woman to hospital for observation, but no injuries were recorded.
The truck driver did not suffer any injuries.
Police say that another truck had passed the woman earlier and had called ahead to others in the areas over the radio, to warn them of the woman's driving behaviour.
Investigators say this contributed to the collision being only minor.
Fire crews from Ballarat also attended the scene.
