Yoa captured the open men’s 12km title in Albany, WA, on Saturday.
The 24-year-old edged out fellow Victorian Nicholas Wightman by five seconds to also lead Athletics Victoria to a team gold medal.
The national title comes a week after he streeted his rivals in the Victorian 15km road championship in Ballarat as part of the Aths Vic XCR’14 Series.
The championship is a major breakthrough for the Eureka Athletics Club member in what is a second phase in his running career.
He represented Australia in the world junior cross country championships in Edinburgh in 2008 and two years later the world cross country championships in Germany.
Yoa is looking to make in marathon debut later this year – in Melbourne on October 12.
Ballarat’s Amy Canavan and Jesse Fullerton also finished among the medals.
Canavan was a silver medallist with the School Sport Victoria 12 year girls’ team over 3km.
Canavan finished 12th in the event.
Fullerton was also a team silver medallist with School Sport Victoria in the men's under-20 division.
