Port Melbourne ripped apart the Selkirk Roosters by 111 points.
PORT MELBOURNE 24.20 (164)
NORTH BALLARAT 7.11(53)
Borough's slick play, speed and all-round hardened defensive work reinforced exactly why it is the Victorian Football League's minor premier.
This final round encounter has given the Roosters plenty to think about and improve on leading into the finals series.
The Roosters made the first clearance strong and swift up forward then the Borough's emphatic celebration for the game's first goal five minutes into play signalled they were ready to put on a show.
The Borough slammed on six unanswered goals for the opening term and another two to start the second before the Roosters could bite back.
There was fire and feeling on the field but the Roosters struggled to convert this to the scoreboard.
Unforced errors hurt the Roosters bad, particularly in the backlines.
Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald called on his players to win the final term and play at their best, against the best, for the last quarter before finals.
But the Borough hit hard first.
They booted four goals within the first five minutes before the Roosters could steady.
Tall Bryce Curnow was the Roosters only multiple goal-kicker with three majors.
The Borough had five players that matched him.
Renowned Borough midfielders Shane Valenti (27 disposals), Toby Pinwill (26), Chris Cain (24) and former Bendigo young gun Shannen Lange (31) set the tone for the match.
Now, the Roosters enter finals with a good taste of the standard needed to go deep.
