Sweethearts is a band with rich history. Now in its 25th year, it has evolved from a school band playing Motown covers to a slick and professional unit that plays soul-based original material.

Based at Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College in Geelong, this all-girl band, has entertained crowds all over the world, touring Europe seven times and playing at iconic festivals such as Montreux and Poretta.

Heart and Soul, a 13-part series about the band, aired on ABC 3 this year as the band toured the USA for the first time. They were a hit, earning the key to the city in Memphis, where they gatecrashed a gig at the world-famous BB Kings in Beale Street and were asked to appear on Memphis’ highest rating TV channel. 

They also played to great acclaim in Nashville, Chicago and at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

Closer to home, Sweethearts are regular performers at The Queenscliff Music Festival and Port Fairy Festival. They also have a residency on the first Thursday of every month at Cherry Bar. 

Normally a 25-piece, all-girl soul extravaganza, this performance of a recently penned song, Peddington, sees a stripped back nine-piece arrangement especially for the Age Stage.

Next year the band will record a new CD of original material.
