However, as the pictures of her one-off creation started to circulate, I couldn't help but think I had seen this design before.
"It was great fun putting it together," Jolie told People.
While I haven't yet seen the detail of the children's designs, which were embroidered onto the dress and veil by Atelier Versace designer Luigi Massi, I was immediately transported to the bathroom textiles section of IKEA, circa 2004.
The classic IGGE shower curtain, featuring childish stick figures of animals, had once been a staple for the flat-pack giant but you'd be lucky to find one these days, let alone one that has never stuck to some poor soul's wet leg and still in its packet.
While I doubt Jolie's kids channelled IGGE, or even know of its once grand existence, it proves that wedding inspiration can be found where you least expect it.
