WHAT: The Bennies with support from Phat Meegz & The Savages
WHEN: Thursday, September 25
WHERE: Karova Lounge, Ballarat
THE Bennies upcoming show at Karova Lounge is set to be "maximum party and good vibes."
Playing with US band Morning Glory, The Bennies vocalist Aunty Horgan said their upcoming tour will be a high energy display of ska punk.
"Morning Glory are very political, aggressive and opinionated and we're really stoked to play with them," Horgan said.
"Their styles are very complimentary, they are more aggressive than us but we're both under the same ska punk umbrella."
This won't be the first time the band has played at Karova, but they're glad the weather is looking better than the last time they were in Ballarat.
"Last time we played there it snowed and only three people turned up," he said.
"We love playing at Karova, we only discovered it a year ago and since then it has become a staple to play at."
The band has come off a busy year of gigs and a recent tour in China and looks forward to getting back into more gigs during their September tour.
"We've nearly played every weekend of the year so far," he said
"China was great, we played in front of thousands of people, they didn't know who we were but they were still rocking it out."
2014 has been a big year for The Bennies whose music has been featured predominantly on TripleJ.
"Ska is a dirty word which not many people know, but it's awesome that our songs are being played on the radio," he said.
"I remember the first time our song was to be put on a rotation on the radio, we came back from Tassie got in the car, turned the radio on and our song was on.
"We had a gig that night and we didn't know whether we should go celebrate with a beer or not."
Inspired by Black Sabboth and Bob Marley, it all started in high school for The Bennies.
High school friends Aunty, Bowie and Craig formed the ska punk band with guitarist Jules joining the group during university.
Since their inception in 2011, the band has two albums under their belts, Rainbows in Space and Party! Party! Party!
