IF YOU had asked Ball Park Music six years ago if they thought this is where they would be today, they wouldn't have been able to tell you they were bound to go on a national tour heading enroute to Ballarat.
Fast forward half a decade and the Australian indie rock group are not only making chart-topping albums, but they're bringing their 'Trippin' The Light Fantastic Tour to regional Ballarat.
Ball Park Music will perform at Karova Lounge next Wednesday with tickets already walking out the door.
"We're going to play lots of songs from Puddinghead," said lead singer Sam Cromack.
"We've started rehearsals and have had plenty of arguments about what else to play.
For the boys of Ball Park Music it all started in university where they jammed for fun while studying.
"We didn't take it seriously and didn't know we would eventually take it seriously," Cromack said.
"Later in uni we did take it seriously and were offered a tour with Hungry Kids of Hungary.
"I was thinking I couldn't afford not to work and study.
"But I remember the twins were like "let's do this".
"It was the beginning of that lifestyle and now we say yes to everything."
But it was their recent performance at Splendour in the Grass that had everyone talking.
"It was one of the best gigs we have ever had," he said.
"A gig like that is daunting, you get there on the day and there are so many artists, I tried to keep a level head and stay calm.
"It goes by so fast, it's a really weird experience, but we love doing what we do, it's a real thrill."
It's also just been announced that their new album Puddinghead will be released throughout Europe.
"It is the beginning of a brand new phase for us," he said.
"We're not calling for stardom, but we would love to share our music with fan bases in other areas of the world."
In the mean time Cromack said the group is looking forward to performing in Australia to their biggest fans.
"I love being on the road and a lot of regional areas we haven't bee to in more than a year."
"It's been a while since we've been in Ballarat and look forward to it."
