The quirky Lily and King couldn't say no to another chance to play for Ballarat audiences.
Captivating audiences during their last visit to Ballarat, Lily (Lisa Baird) and King (Tony King) are ready to share their acoustic sounds with fans once again.
"Lily and I enjoy playing in regional areas and we had such a good reception when we played at the Summer Sundays concert in your Botanical Gardens last year," Mr King said.
"This time around we are looking forward to playing in an intimate venue like The Main Bar where the patrons can be up close.
"Patrons can expect to hear vocals, guitar, trombone, toy piano, half a drum kit, foot tambourine, African drum and a few bits and pieces."
The pair said their sets sit somewhere between a captivating 1940s nightclub routine and the raw, rambunctious spirit of New Orleans street buskers.
King said it was always their aim to find more instruments to play with and use multiple limbs at once to make music.
"Somehow, over time, we have tried to build more sounds into our music, to make up for the lack of bass players, keyboard players and drummers in our act," he said.
"Bit by bit we have employed our limbs to cover these tasks and they appear to do so adequately, however, if we were to stop and think about what we are doing, it would probably all fall apart."
With the use of a trombone, toy piano, guitar, banjo, half a toy drum kit and an abundance of foot stomping, Lily and King have successfully released a self-titled EP and their first album Medication, which they will perform songs from on Friday night.
