HOMEGROWN group Apes will perform one last show before they jet off overseas.
Their last show before their anticipated first UK tour in October will be performed at Ballarat's Karova Lounge on Thursday night.
"We haven't headlined in Ballarat for more than a year," lead vocalist and guitarist Ben Dowd said.
"We're super excited to get back and see familiar faces."
With the release of their new single Pull The Trigger receiving plenty of positive feedback from fans, it's been a busy year for Apes who have also appeared heavily on popular music station Triple J.
"We're trying to write as much as we can, but we also love playing so we're also trying to do as much of that as we can too," Dowd said.
Their new single which reflects the groups desires to follow what they enjoy most was written in Dowd's parents shed in Ballarat.
"We had it for 12 months before we turned it into a song," he said.
"It's all about going down a path you love rather than one you are told to."
Dowd said the group looks forward to their UK tour and the next phase of their career which all began in a share house in Ballarat a few years ago.
"Me and Sam played in a band as teenagers which fizzled out, we moved in together and chugged along and kept writing. Eventually we decided to get a band together," he said.
"We're still a new band, the first 18-24 months you're getting your head around touring and now we've earn our stripes and we're ready for it.
"It's(UK Tour) going to be unreal, we've wanted to go there for such a long time."
While the last year has proved busy for Apes, it's about to get a whole lot more busier with a planned debut album set to be released in early 2015.
