A collection of car lovers have collaborated on Cars n' Coffee, billed as Ballarat's largest two hour car show.
From 7.30am until 9.30am Ballarat car enthusiasts will gather at the Sovereign Hill car park with their favourite machines for a not-so-impromptu social get-together.
Cars n' Coffee organiser Justin Mitchell of the Ballarat and District Early Holden Car Club said he wanted to give owners of rare, restored or customised cars, an excuse to bring them out on a Sunday morning and to meet like-minded folk.
"It is not a new concept. It has been done elsewhere successfully," Mr Mitchell said.
"There are a lot of people with a really nice car in the garage who don't always have the opportunity to bring it out. I'd like to think this will give many an excuse.
"Facebook is telling us we have 150 people who have already accepted the invitation. We're expecting 100 or more cars."
The idea has the official or unofficial backing of many of Ballarat's largest car clubs, including the Ballarat and District Early Holden Car Club, the Vintage and Classic Car Club of Ballarat and others. The Ballarat Road Rodders have also signalled their intention to be at Cars n' Coffee before heading off on a "rod run" up to Maryborough.
Mr Mitchell said the goal would be to make Cars n' Coffee a monthly occurrence.
John Lewis, a member of several car clubs including the Vintage and Classic Car Club, said he could see Cars n' Coffee becoming the launch point for many car club cruises and runs.
As for the beverage side of the gathering, coffee will be supplied by Delaware North Companies, with the first 50 people from 7.30am receiving their coffee free.
"Officially it goes for two hours but people can stay as little or as long as they like," Mr Mitchell said.
