The football season has built up to this weekend, with forecast sunny weather shaping up for it to be a great success. 

CHFL administrator Diane Ryan said the grand final had a very special feel to it.

“The CHFL is the biggest district country league in Victoria, so it attracts a big crowd,” Ms Ryan said. “You can just imagine 4500 people in the stands roaring for the teams.” 

Buninyong Football Club will take care of catering, with Hepburn supplying drinks on the day. 

Ms Ryan said 6500 people were expected to walk through the gates on Saturday. 

She said there was no parking available to the general public in the ground, with limited disabled parks available for reservation.

“All parking is outside the ground, and Creswick Road gate is the only access point.” 

Ballarat police Senior Sergeant Pete Carey said the public had been well behaved at the grand final over the past few years and he hoped that would continue. 

“We encourage people to be responsible with their liquor consumption,” he said. 

Senior Sergeant Carey said there would be rostered police at the game and throughout the CBD in the evening. 

“It is a normal weekend, just with a local football final. We’ve got a good relationship with the licensed premises in the area, they just need to ensure they comply with legislation and not serve those who are intoxicated,” he said. 

He advised motorists who planned to be travelling through the area at the close of game to take a different route as there would be some congestion. 

The seniors match will be preceded by under 14.5 Hepburn against Buninyong at 8.45am, under 17.5 Hepburn versus Bungaree at 10.25, and Bungaree verses Waubra in the reserves grand final.
