NATIONALS candidate for Buninyong Sonia Smith has hit out at vandals who defaced one of her election billboards with crude sexual imagery.

Ms Smith said the sign had been place on the Midland Highway only a day earlier before her husband spotted the vandalism early on Tuesday morning.
“The thing is the other candidates haven’t had it happen in this election, they haven’t had theirs vandalised,” she said.
“Is it an attempt to humiliate me because I am a woman?
“One of the reasons I am running for politics is because I want to set the example for young women and show that you can do it and won’t be treated any differently.
“The response I have had from the community has been overwhelming.”
She said there was a big difference between tagging on the sign and the kind of imagery that had been painted on.
While she is yet to report the incident to the police, the sign has been replaced.
