Swans director of coaching Shane Skontra said there were five players in the mix for a return to the senior side which thumped Redan in the weekend’s preliminary final.
High-flying Luke Brennan is the biggest of the names in with a chance of a call-up after missing the semi-final loss to City and the win over the Lions with a back injury.
Brennan was crunched in a marking contest in the elimination final victory against Sunbury.
Skontra also said defender-winger Daniel Kennedy and utilities Chris Thornton, Luke Kenelley and Zane Thompson were a chance to overcome soft tissue injuries and push for selection.
“We are not going to play anyone that’s not fit for the game,” Skontra said.
“100 per cent no risk. If they are not right to play, they won’t play.”
Meanwhile, North Ballarat City continues its steady progress towards its title defence.
City coach Rob Waters anticipates a near full squad available to select his grand final team.
Waters said nothing much had changed form-wise since City’s 63-point win against Ballarat in the semi-final at Eastern Oval a fortnight ago.
City hit the training track on Saturday morning and had a late team breakfast before watching Saturday’s preliminary final as a group.
Experienced premiership player Jarrod Edwards was in stellar form in City’s last outing and the large buffer City made against the Swans allowed a good chance to rest Edwards and stars Ayden George and Jason McNamara for the bulk of the final term.
