The David Murphy-trained and driven Monica My Dear ($3.30) and Bob Conroy-trained Chipmont Lad ($48) deadheated in the Peter McErvale Real Estate T1/T2 Trot, 2200m.
Nomistakingpegasus ($2 favourite) could not have been much closer away in third - the official margin being a short half head.
Then on top of this Lomboscrutinzer ($5.60) was only a half head off the winners in fourth, with a charging Mygreekkalesa ($39.40) a half neck off the pace in fifth.
The finish had everyone guessing - even the drivers.
Murphy thought he had the race in his keeping inside the last 100m after getting an inside run, but on the line he had no idea.
"AlI I could see were yellow, orange and green coming at me," he said.
The finish had onlookers recalling one of the most famous deadheats in Australian horse racing history - the 1956 Hotham Handicap at Flemington, when Fighting Force, Ark Royal, and Pandie Sun could not be separated in a triple deadheat.
