The students have been growing vegetables and herbs all term, transplanting the items into a new vegetable patch on Thursday.
Sustainability teacher Liz Kelly said the idea was to teach students about sustainable living.
“They can learn to grow their own food, watch living things grow and learn how to work in a team,” Ms Kelly said.
The LinkUp program is a branch of Ballarat Secondary College which re-engages disconnected teenagers back into education and the community.
The class will grow peas, beans, silverbeet, beetroot, lettuce, corn and herbs, and will soon make a second garden for fruit trees.
