Two FUA teams, a men’s and women’s, will compete in Sydney, from September 28 to October 3.
Men’s captain Lincoln Barnes believes last year’s near miss at the Ballarat-hosted AUG holds his side in good stead for an improved performance.
“Hopefully our team’s a lot better on the field this year,” Barnes said. “We’ve picked up a few (North Ballarat) Roosters boys, which should strengthen our core.
“ We’re looking to walk away with a medal.”
The 28-strong men’s side features two former AFL-listed players in Jordan Staley and Andrew Bosely, as well as six VFL players and a range of North Ballarat Rebels.
Meanwhile, the women’s side of 26 will be led by captain Elle Henderson and AFL women’s player Kaitlyn Ashmore.
“We take it pretty seriously when we’re playing,” Henderson said.
