Tour de France winner Cadel Evans announced his retirement on Friday at a press conference at the world championships in Spain.
Evans said he would retire from racing in February 2015 after contesting the Tour Down Under in South Australia and the national championships in Ballarat in January.
His final race will be the inaugural Cadel Evans Great Ocean Classic on February 1.
