Dylan Closter, 18 at the time, was one of a number of young men involved in a brawl between two groups in the early hours of December 31, 2012, in Rye.

Closter pleaded guilty in August to manslaughter and affray over the death of Templestowe man David Cassai. The plea was temporarily suppressed to avoid prejudicing the case of his co-accused, Thomas McCluskey-Sharp, who was also charged over the brawl.

The suppression order was lifted on Wednesday after McCluskey-Sharp told the court he will plead guilty to assaulting two men and making an affray.

Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth will sentence Closter in the Supreme Court on Thursday morning.

Tyrone Russell was also charged over the brawl. His and McCluskey-Sharp's charges are not linked to Mr Cassai's death.

Russell pleaded guilty in March to making an affray and unlawfully injuring two men.
