One needs only to glance at Saturday's grand final teams to appreciate the potential impact of moves in the first half of October. Hawthorn's backline was ably led by the sure and imported hands of Josh Gibson and Brian Lake. Its ruck stocks too - Ben McEvoy and David Hale - were sourced from other clubs. Former Crow Jack Gunston threatened on the forward line. Ex- Power player Shaun Burgoyne was everywhere early. Sydney was left vanquished, but arguably its two best players - Lance Franklin and Josh Kennedy - came via the Hawks, and in October.
