FORMER prime minister Julia Gillard unveiled her bronze bust in the Prime Ministers' Avenue at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens on Thursday afternoon.

A large crowd of onlookers joined Ms Gillard for the occasion.

The sculpture, which was created by artist and cartoonist Peter Nicholson, has been sitting in storage since her initial 2012 sitting in Melbourne.

The visit comes after the release of Ms Gillard’s autobiography, My Story.
