A large crowd of onlookers joined Ms Gillard for the occasion.
The sculpture, which was created by artist and cartoonist Peter Nicholson, has been sitting in storage since her initial 2012 sitting in Melbourne.
The visit comes after the release of Ms Gillard’s autobiography, My Story.
Ballarat’s Collins Booksellers is also hosting a sold-out launch of her biography including a talk and book signing at the Deluxe Spiegeltent from 6pm to 8pm.
