Sheila and Tom White married in 1949, after meeting at a dance at Bungaree in 1946.
"It was a cold, cold day; minus one degree with a frost," Mr White said about their wedding day at St Patrick's Cathedral on October 8. "It was a happy day."
Mrs White, three years older than her husband at 91, said they had made it work over the past 65 years by being considerate.
"You've got to give and take, that's all," she said.
Mr White agreed, adding his wife made it easy by being a "marvellous woman".
The Millbrook couple has two children and three step-grandchildren.
Mrs White said among many highlights of their married life were their annual trips to the Sunshine Coast and then overseas jaunts.
"We went to South Africa, 10 or 11 years ago, and there was a shopping spree in Hong Kong, about 20 years back," she said.
Looking at the changes to the area over the last 65 years, Mrs White said they were apparent in the TAB, where she worked for years in Ballan and Ballarat.
"I couldn't place a bet now, it's just pressing buttons," she said.
"Millbrook hasn't changed that much though."
Mr White said he was happy with their life together and was looking ahead.
"You know, we have a good life and we're still doing pretty well," he said.
